Growing up in her native Colombia, Nahiris Bahamón knew from an early age that she wanted to be a doctor. After coming to the U.S. as a refugee with her family at the age of 18, she continued her studies. Today, she is a Board Registered Pediatrician at Esperanza Health Centers, a group of community healthcare providers in Chicago. She is also a board advisor for Physicians for a National Health Program, and an advocate for children and families as a member of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
