It took awhile for Ina Pinkney to figure out her career path. "I had 21 jobs in my life and I was fired from 19 of them," she told Start TV. "Because I could never fit the corporate culture."

At 37 years old, she baked her first cake. Not only was she good at it, but it led to a career. In the 80's she and her husband could never find a good breakfast spot, so she opened up her own fine dining breakfast restaurant in Chicago, which lasted for over 30 years.

Now post-retirement, she mentors young female chefs. "I always tell them," she said, "That there is great power in being underestimated."
