Mireya Mayor is a scientist, anthropologist and a wildlife correspondent for National Geographic. The mother of six children is credited with discovering a new species of lemur while on one of her expeditions in Madagascar. She has found herself in some precarious positions in the jungles that she calls her office, stories she shares in her book Pink Boots and a Machete: My Journey From NFL Cheerleader to National Geographic Explorer.
