Angela Lansbury loved filming Murder, She Wrote, but there were a few things she didn't like

Viewers praised Murder, She Wrote, and critics couldn't get enough of Angela Lansbury playing the leading lady, Jessica Fletcher. Although Lansbury had a stellar acting resume before taking on the part, the murder mystery series really skyrocketed her to a level of fame she wasn't familiar with.

With fame comes long hours and a tougher workload. A show like Murder, She Wrote didn't happen easily. The cast and crew put in much time and effort to make it what viewers love today. Angela Lansbury had to carry much of the load, which became harder as the series went on.

During a 1985 interview with the Gannett News Service, while the show was very successful, the actress worried about its faults instead of basking in the success.

"All too often, they resort to the nasty process of hiring someone just before it's time to film. Sometimes I'll have a big, heavy scene and they'll say, well, the script was just delivered to them last night. I find myself in a winter coat, passing someone in a tank top," she said. This made the then-current season a little foggy for the actress.

"I just wanted to know where the heck I was. And often, I didn't." By the third episode, Lansbury found herself working until 3 in the morning. It's something she complained about until it got a bit better. "I got really upset about it. I got emotionally as close to a wreck as could be."

Fortunately, once things started to improve, the actress was finally able to accept all the good things that came with Jessica Fletcher. "It was finally beginning to be fun to me."
