Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs didn't just star on Charmed — they were also producers
The best actors take their talents into as many areas of film and television production as possible. This opens doors to acting projects and allows them to serve as directors, executive producers, writers, and more. Securing acting jobs isn't easy, so they need something under their belt to fall back on until the roles come.
Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs were the stars of Charmed, which followed three sisters who were witches. They used their magical powers to defeat demons and evil spirits while also attempting to keep their secret hidden.
While the show was popular, Milano and Combs did more than play viewers' favorite characters; they also became producers. With this new responsibility came changes, including the firing of Combs' boyfriend from the show.
"He was bored with the show anyway, he wanted to do movies," Holly said during an interview with The Star-Ledger in 2002. She was talking about David Donoho, who she later married. A lot of the crew was fired along with Donoho, and the stars called it housecleaning. According to Combs, the changes made Charmed "1,000 percent better. We stole cinematographer Jonathan West away from 'CSI,' and I tell you, he makes us all look 10 years younger. Production values have improved more than I can say."
While things seemed to be looking up for the production, Combs was unhappy that the new season was premiering a few days earlier than planned.
"We were supposed to debut for the fall on Sept. 29, but in some kind of brilliant counter programming or something, they moved us up — to compete against the Emmys! The network seems to believe our demographics won't be watching the Emmys, but I think they're wrong."
